Hair by Habecker

So I would have blogged a long time ago but I couldn't figure how to get back on this site. I know, I know I am lame but what can I say. So much has gone on since the last blog. Reese decided she wants to be a hairdresser. In fact at the beginning of the year we sat down as a family and made family goals. Reese's one goal for the year simply was "Learn Hairs". And by George she's got it. In the last two weeks Reese has become very serious about her Hair Stylings. First she took a brand new can of hairspray and used the whole can on her hair--I decided that I would go and get her pictures professionally taken. It made me laugh so hard when she came out and had her hair plastered to her head. I thought to myself well at least she didn't cut it. So we got her pictures taken and they were so funny. But not even a week later Reesey did cut her bangs and all I could do was scream. It was 3 days before her 3rd birthday. I was wanting to get her pictures done for her birthday but I am having such a hard time getting two sets of pictures with her hair all jacked up. I guess if I really had to capture what Reesey is all about right now it is hair-and what a great memory!

Escaping The Heat

September 3, 2007

It started out to be a very realxing day-sleeping in and deciding whether we wanted to go to the beach or the water park. Majority won and we went to the Antioch water park. The kids love it there! When the kids are happy Mama is happy. And so it was. We left here at about 10:30am got gas and headed to the waterpark. Zachary was so excited to go because in the last week he has learned to swim without his floatees. Now that is big, considering at the beginning of the summer he wouldn't even sit on the top step of the pool. We had a great day enjoying the 95 degree weather(sorry Rebecca). We did the waterslides and a Lilly Pad Obstacle course in the pool-(in fact for you locals Britt and Mike will be in the Contra Costa Times tomorrow for their skills on that). We ate lunch and deciding that it was almost 2:00pm(nap time for Reese) we needed to head home.We got home after about a 40 minute drive home-finding all was well or so we thought. We walked in he back door and all you could smell was burning something. I hear Mike yelling at me,"Erika, what did you do?" Nothing is what came to my mind. In fact, this will tell you what kind mother I am-I did not even step foot into my kitchen this morning. Mike made breakfast for the kids. I then thought,"What did I do? What did you do? The house was completely smoked filled. A rag had been left on the stove and was now a pile of gray ashes. I can only figure that Reese had been on the counter(that is her favorite perching spot) and kicked the back burner on high. It was on high the entire time we were gone. It caught the rag on fire and we are lucky that was the only thing that burned. I am sitting here writing with the smell of burn in my clothes and burning my eyes. I have now taken all of the knobs off of my stove so I don't have the fear of it happening again.I know that the Lord protected this house and I am grateful for that blessing because it truly was a miracle with all that is sitting around on my counter tops that nothing else burned, We truly "Escaped the Heat".
